A Hat For Heads?

Before now I used to think it was complete garbage when people would say to me 'Oh, I have a head for hats' 'Hats look great on me' not least because I'm sorry but there is no way ANYONE could rock this:

So, more to the point, anyone who knows me knows that I have a major love for hats. To me they complete a look, and can really tie an outfit together. I'm not talking about the beanie hats that every sixteen year old seems to be wearing, balanced on top of their heads, I'm talking about perfect panamas, first- class fedoras- okay, enough with the alliteration.

So if you like me can't get enough of hats, I highly recommend 'Bailey of Hollywood' hat makers for a super clean cut, superb tailored look. I love every.single.one of their hats and they have made me a firm believer in that lame saying I mentioned earlier.

A couple months ago I purchased this glorious RED fedora and it's just one of those staple items that every person should own. It adds not only a pop of colour but also makes me feel tailored and smart.

Here's the link to purchase this hat [not from the official website but from Zalando which is a great website that I know and trust]:

Obviously I just couldn't get enough because this morning I woke up to a beautiful package waiting for me- a dark bottle green B.O.H trilby hate with bow that I CANNOT stop staring at. The colour is beaut and I'm in love with the feather detail. Perfect for this weird cold/hot rain/sun London weather we're having!

This hat comes in a bunch of different colours and here's the link straight from the website itself:

So, If you're already a believer, check these bad boys out and if you're not usually into hats, you should check these out anyways!!! I expect that a few people may convert!

My Latest Beauty Buys

So...no surprise here but revision is sooooooo boring, so any chance I can get to leave my apartment and go in search of a new beauty product, I shall take.

This afternoon I took a quick trip to SuperDrug in search of some interesting products. I wasn't sure what exactly I was searching for [a new nail color, gorgeous new scent?] but I stumbled upon an Acrylic nail paint that makes your nails harder and stronger which is perfect for me because I have quite weak and brittle nails. The polish has been on for only a few hours and already my nails feel harder and less bendy.

Here is the link:

[p.s Chemist Direct I highly recommend- often cheaper than buying in Boots/ SuperDrug

Along with this I also bought Elegant Touch French Manicure Kit which I have used before and is absolutely brilliant [except for the strips which I find make the white tip polish smudge]. The result is fabulous and I feel as if I have had my nails done in a salon!

Also my Elie Saab 'Le Parfum' Body Lotion arrived today. I know everyone says that when they wear a perfume they get tons of compliments, but I actually do get compliments EVERY single time I wear this gorgeous perfume and usually no one has ever heard of it, which is odd because to me, it smells like a dream: a perfect blend of sweetness and peachiness and sophistication and elegance. So, with this, I decided to invest in the body lotion, which leaves my skin feeling luscious and smelling delectable. Definitely a decadent purchase.

Glamorous as Glamorous.com

Finding time to go shopping whilst studying for my university exams is difficult. I feel guilty leaving my apartment to spend hours scouring racks of clothes and shelves of shoes, and then feel even more guilty once I've entered my pin and the damage has been done . So I was thrilled when I stumbled upon www.glamorous.com which not only has some EXCITING items to get the heart racing, it is also relatively inexpensive. I purchased this white shirt with contrasting blue sleeves, which looks fantastic with leather jeans and this cream shirt with a bow which I find looks effortlessly cool and feminine

This online boutique reminds me of ASOS offering not only a vast range of items to lust over, but also different styles for all different tastes and preferences. I like the clean, tailored look but they have some really fun and individual pieces. I'm super into matching sets at the moment and I adore the Gamorous Multi Aztec Pencil Skirt and matching Multi Aztec Crop Top. I love this website as the items arrived very swiftly, are true to the size they say they are and definitely affordable.

Go grab a great deal!

Ladurée on a beautiful day

Almost every time I go to Covent Garden [which is often, seeing as my university is near there], I go to Ladurée which is a beautiful French patisserie that make luxury cakes, pastries and food. The décor is to die: soft, pale greens and creams and I always feel like I'm in Paris on the Champs- Elysées!

I believe their specialty are their macaroons [my favourite is the 'caramel a la Fleur de Sel'], which make excellent gifts, and their chocolat chaud which is literally like pure delicious melted chocolate [an absolute treat!].

It is my all time fave place to sit when it's sunny as they have a rooftop terrace looking over covent garden. I will admit it is rather pricey but the hot chocolate is sooooo worth it, and there is nothing more divine than sipping a fruit cocktail watching the Covent Garden street acts.

2nd Hand Designer Bargains

I think a lot of people would initially look down on buying second hand designer items, not least because a lot of time, the quality is really poor/ the item in question is super old and, let's be honest, fugly. I used to be one of these people but recently I have discovered the joy that is second hand designer purchasing. It requires extreme patience, sifting through all the crap, that is either overpriced or bad condition, but gems are waiting to be found.

I am a major fan of http://www.vestiairecollective.com especially their handbag selection [I have what you might call a lustful fixation for handbags]. With this site, and with eBay which also has an incredible selection of items [although you must be careful because there are a lot of fakes on there] a buyer can filter their searches, including the condition of the item, so as to for instance, only view items in 'very good condition'. The one thing this site does hold over eBay is not only a massive range of clothing/ shoes/ bags and designers, a buyer can also be  sure that what they are buying is 100% authentic.

I'm currently crushing on http://www.vestiairecollective.com/women-bags/handbags/burgundy-leather-handbag-593912.shtml not least because it is SO Carrie Bradshaw circa 2003.

So with Carrie in mind I decided to also go for the monogram logo type bag, which is not usually my style AT ALL, but I just thought, whatever, they're fun all of my other purses are super smart and leather and sophisticated. I wanted something fun so I ended up buying...

Gucci Boston Bag
w32cm x h22cm x d17cm- RRP £500- £1300

It looks and feels BRAND NEW and I think I just died and went to heaven. I love the patent leather handles [totally unscratched btw]- for me, the bag is a hybrid of sophistication and pure tack - let's call it kitsch. I wear mine with jeans, fresh white shirt, grey blazer, pumps to uni, the gym, shopping [yes, that includes Waitrose] and I always get compliments

So, in conclusion ... do not knock second hand designer items. If you look hard enough and do your research you may just find yourself a beautiful steal!!!

The Shake Weight: Fact or Fiction?

So...every time someone comes over to my apartment they ALWAYS comments on my Shake Weight, whether this is out of curiosity or to turn their noses up at [gym buddies]. Okay, so it's certainly not a 40 minute high intensity cardio workout that leaves you drowning in sweat, pumped and panting but if what you want is some beautifully toned, nicely sculpted bi/ triceps, this this is on point. Of course I combine it with other exercise [I try to gym 3/4 times a week] but this thing works. If your arms are feeling a little flabby just 6 minutes with this bad boy every day for a week can seriously change the shape of your arms.

I bought mine from Ebay for £8 and I ADORE it. If you [like me] get a little intimidated by the massive hench men in the weight room at the gym this thing is for YOU to use at home.

Three Floor Fashion

Hello! And welcome to my new blog! I named this blog: My.Girl.Crush because I have always looked to women as my inspiration or 'girl crush' for fashion styling ideas, beauty tips and workout advice [amongst many other things]. This blog is an outlet for me to throw all of my ideas and thoughts on to and hopefully I can pass on some of MY fashion and beauty tips to someone out there.

So, I thought for my first post I would write about what I know which is dresses. Well, more THE DRESS which I actually purchased this afternoon, partly on a whim, partly not. I have been crazy obsessed with Three Floor Fashion for some time after having spotted Amanda Seyfreid rocking a nude sheer and cobalt 'China Blue Dress' at MTV's 2013 Movie Awards. The designs are FRESH, young, sexy AS and affordable [well, for a celebrity look] so I after much inner consideration to buy one for myself.

I went for the 'Shades of Blue Dress' which I spotted way back in Vogue and have been fantasising over for quite some time[nude patent heel mmm] and here it is in all its glory:
Free (!) next day delivery and this dream will be mine to hold. So jazzed! I think it is imperative for  everyone to check out Three Floor Fashion, I really think they are going to be one to watch [I've already spied at least three of the Saturdays wearing their designs]. Here's a link to their website: http://threefloorfashion.com/ and you can also find them on ASOS with some mouth watering sale items...http://www.asos.com/Women/A-To-Z-Of-Brands/Three-Floor/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=15322

That's all for now,

M
